Eliminating talking on the dance floor allows us to move out of our heads and into our bodies, hearts, and souls. We leave behind the words and worries of the day and connect with spirit and one another in new ways. The dance floor is a place of respect and safety Ecstatic Dance has been created as a safe container, whether we’re dancing alone or with others. Ecstatic Dance is contact-friendly, but keep in mind that we all have different levels of comfort when it comes to being approached and touched. Please be mindful and make sure the way you approach other dancers is resonant with them. If somebody offers you a shared dance and you are not interested, simply give them a bow with hands at your heart to say, “no thank you”. Why can’t I talk on the dance floor? At Ecstatic Dance, we join together to create a sacred space for dancing. Refraining from talking on the dance floor allows us to move out of our heads and into our bodies and hearts. We leave behind the words and worries of the day in order to connect with one another and spirit in new ways. We have a chill out space away from the dance floor where you can talk What do I wear? Anything that allows you to move comfortably. No shoes required. Can I wear shoes? Ecstatic Dance is a barefoot practice. If you need to wear shoes due to health reasons, dance-specific shoes are allowed, but only shoes that have never been worn on the street. What should I bring? Bring a water bottle and a towel. Leave valuables at home Should I come with a dance partner?
People come to dance alone all the time. You may choose to dance with others once you’re there, you may prefer to dance by yourself, or both! Are Children allowed? This is a semi guided moving meditation. Children are admitted at the parents discretion and must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for their behavior. They will be asked to leave if they disrupt the space and others enjoyment. Liability Anyone entering the space and participating in the dance will need to agree to a Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement. |

Rather than a non-stop electronic beat - the DJ plays a wide range of music that will move you on many levels. Real music for real people! You’ll hear a mix of great music, including Latin, African, Middle Eastern, funk, pop, R&B, hip-hop, house, blues, downtempo electronica, and electro-swing. You’ll hear some things that are familiar, whether current radio hits or favorite "oldies," some that are new and unfamiliar, and some things that may even surprise you. You may find yourself dancing to things you never expected you’d dance to. WHAT TO EXPECT - FORMAT & FLOW Of THE SERIES OF RHYTHMS. INTRO & INTENTION SETTING: DJ welcomes & invites everyone to set an intention for their dance. The space is 3 dimensional - meaning you can dance on your feet or roll around on the floor - whatever moves you! WARM UP: starts soft and slow, with music designed to help you stretch, loosen up, and arrive in the space. moving around to get comfortable. By the end of the warm-up, the music usually has enough beat and flow to have you up off the floor. BUILD UP: Music starts to build moving you out of the static.You may find your body has a mind of its own - moving you out of your head space. LIFT OFF: Music escalates and the beat drives you literally out of your mind. Built up & stuck energy is set free. ASCENSION: Music becomes slower & lyrical letting your heart and soul soar. You maybe moved emotionally - which is a good thing and a safe place to feel it. GROUNDING: Music will invite you to drop down deeper into yourself and feel the new released parts of yourself reintegrate.. Thus completing your intentional journey. At this point you may not even want to move at all. |
